| Notes: | Charles Stanley Monck was born in 1819, the eldest son of Charles Joseph Kelly Monck, 3rd Viscount Monck and Bridget Willington. In 1844 he married his cousin Lady Elizabeth Louise Mary Monck, daughter of Henry Stanley Monck, 2nd Viscount Monck and Earl of Rathdowne. When his father died in 1849, he succeeded to the title of 4th Viscount Monck. Charles had a distinguished career and was Commissioner of Church Temporalities in Ireland. In 1861 he was appointed Captain General and Governor-in-Chief and Governor-General of British America. This appointment was renewed in 1867 and his title was declared to be that of Governor-General of the Dominion of Canada. He returned to Ireland and became Lord Lieutenant of county Dublin in 1874, a post he held until 1892. In 1866 he was created a peer of the United Kingdom as Baron Monck of Ballytrammon. In 1869 he was awarded the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St. Michael and St. George and served as a Privy Counsellor. He died in 1894. Physical description: 1 box.
