Summary:Maeve Cavanagh MacDowell, (1878-1960) was a playwright and poet - her poem ‘Ireland to Germany’ published during World War One was quoted in the British House of Commons as evidence of a conspiracy. A member of Cumann na mBan, the Irish Citizen Army and the Gaelic League when young, in 1921 she married Cathal MacDowell, (1880-1926), an engineer, architect, musician and illustrator, who as a Volunteer fought at Boland’s Mill during Easter 1916.
