Summary: | Contains the correspondence of Sir John Leslie, 1st Bart., dated 1856-1875. Letters are mainly of a personal nature, concerning family matters and the death of Charles Powell Leslie III, art, travel and leisure pursuits plus some reference to social matters, elections and Leslie's military affairs. Includes a letter from Captain Thomas Leslie (later Slingsby), Lord Raglan's aide-de-camp in the Crimea, on the Battle of Inkerman and the Siege of Sevastopol, dated November 1854; pencil sketches by Francis Grant; correspondence on records of the Leslie estate by William Reeves; and a transription of correspondence from George Whyte-Melville.
