Summary:Election handbill dated 7 June 1938 for Fine Gael party candidate Dermot Gun O'Mahony encouraging people to re-elect him as a T.D. for Wicklow in the 1938 general election (however he was not re-elected and lost his seat in this election). In this leaflet he refers to the fact that due to a severe attack of sciatica he has not been able to hold meetings and "move about the county" as he "should have liked to have done" - he also made it clear in this leaflet that he supported proportional representation, would have sought a recovery loan for farmers if re-elected and states he would seek "full de-rating of agricultural land and labourers' plots". Printed on verso at bottom of sheet : "Printed by the Bray Printing Co. Ltd., and Published by Joseph P. Tyrrell, L.L.B., Solr., Main Street, Bray, Agent to the Candidate". Dermot Gun O'Mahony's father was Pierce Charles de Lacy O'Mahony, Irish Parliamentary Party M.P. for North Meath (1886-1892) [later known as 'The O'Mahony of Kerry'] who lost his seat to Michael Davitt in the general election of July 1892.
