[Postcard] The Bird's Nest that Neddy was taken to, is at Kingstown, [Dún Laoghaire] near Dublin. it is a very large nest, and is the happy home of 212 little children, who every night sleep in beds exactly like Neddy's, instead of wandering about homeless. They are taught that Jesus loves, and cares for them; and they try to serve Him. Hundreds of children in England, Scotland, and Ireland, and other countries, are doing as Amy did; not perhaps, EXACTLY; but they collect money and make clothes, and so enable others to take the poor little ones, and wash and dress them, and make them happy...."

Main Creator: Birds' Nest and Mission Ragged Schools (Kingstown)
Summary:The ninth and last in the series of a set of postcards entitled 'Neddy's Happy Christmas', advertising the work of the children's home known variously as the Birds' Nest and Mission Ragged Schools; the Bird's Nest Home, Kingstown or The Bird's Nest, it was located at York Road, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. Founded in 1859 by a Mrs Smyly, it was subsequently run by the Smyly Trust. It closed in 1975. At top of card is illustrated a sparrow within a nest that is located on a branch of a tree. Text continues: "A number of pretty little books are published about this Bird's Nest, and the little ones in it; and if any dear children would like to help such a pleasant work, we would be very glad to receive letters from them, and we would send cards to collect upon, and books to tell all about it. The Packet is called Neddy's Happy Christmas; but I think Amy was happier than Neddy, for Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive". Sarah Davies, 35 Upper Fitz-William Street, Dublin. Hon. Secretary to Children's Association".
