Summary:Signed top right on cover of programme in manuscript hand in black ink "Brian Farrell" [Bernard Brendan, [known as "Brian"] Farrell, (1929-2014), was an Irish academic, journalist and broadcaster]. Containing the text of the presidential address given by then Taoiseach Jack Lynch to the Fianna Fáil Árd Fheis held in the Mansion House, Dublin on Tuesday, 28 January, 1969. Programme designed and printed by John Augustine, Dublin, features a black and white reproduction of a head and shoulders portrait of Jack Lynch and small illustrations beside each sub-division [under the five major headings of the programme - Political, Economic, Social, Cultural and General]. Introduction refers to the fact that the previous week in the Mansion House the 50th Anniversary of the First Dáil was celebrated; the first paragraph [under the heading 'Political', p.3] is entitled 'Re-Unification', begins, "The first aim of Fianna Fail today, as when Fianna Fáil was founded, is the re-unification of the Irish people as one nation; to secure, by agreement, the unification of the national territory; and towards that end to continue to work for the removal of the barriers of suspicion, animosity and mistrust which have divided Irishmen in the past, so that unity can be founded on tolerance and goodwill and to achieve the maximum possible measure of co-operation in practical matters of public concern between the two areas into which Ireland is now divided, without sacrifice of principle in regard to political or constitutional issues. I do not wish that any word of mine would, in any way, tend to inflame the present situation in the Northern area. We want to see basic human rights granted - and granted in full - to our Northern brethern who are now denied them. We want to see discrimination in the North in every form ended...Good neighbourliness should, we believe, have no boundaries".
