The Dublin Circuit & [and] District Courts Bar Association annual dinner Dolphin Hotel, Dublin. 16th December, 1933.

Bibliographic Details
Summary:One card folded into [4 pp.], last page blank. Featuring on inside of card, underneath 'Toasts' an illustration [with the initials of the artist 'T.L.'] of a man in the dock with a policeman standing beside him, facing the judge while a male stenographer takes notes - according to a notice on the wall, the scene takes place in 'District Court No.2 / 8th Dec. 33 [1933]', two days after this annual dinner. Printed underneath the image is 'Violenti no fit injuria' [which roughly translated from Latin is "To a willing person, injury is not done"]; Volenti non fit injuria is a common law doctrine stating that if someone willingly places themselves in a position where harm might result, knowing that some degree of harm might result, they are not able to bring a claim against the other party in tort or delict. Opposite this the menu is printed, under the heading 'Fiat justitia' [which roughly translated from Latin means "Let justice be done"].
