Located immediately behind is a tent, the entrance to it is open; in the left background five other tents can be seen, while a soldier in the left middle distance, seen from behind, stands holding a red pennant [flag]. Beside the woman, in the left foreground are the two soldiers she is addressing - one is seen in profile, the other full length, turned to the right and looking at her. They are both splendidly dressed, with a profusion of yellow braiding on their uniforms.
