Description: Lettered with title 'A Riding School! or The Tenth taking a Lesson!!'. Lacking publication line. This caricature depicts a soldier from the cavalry regiment The Tenth Royal Hussars on a rocking horse; his shako [a tall, cylindrical military hat] flies off his head and he remarks (in a speech bubble) "Stop. Stop! don't make him gallop so hard, see there now he has unhorsed me again!!". A groom in the right foreground says to him "hold fast or you'r [sic, you're] ruin'd; let me get out of the way till I faint!". Standing in the right background, a field marshall wearing a plumed bicorne hat says to another soldier of the Tenth Royal Hussars, "Tho' I laugh at them, yet when I see the Military character so degraded it gives me pain"; the soldier remarks "Every man of Sense sees their folly". In the left background, another member of the Tenth Royal Hussars regiment is depicted about to climb onto another rocking horse. He remarks to the groom in front of him "wasn't that a dam'd nice offer only he stir'd I was nearly up!! hold him tight now and maybe I may get up!!". The groom, holding the rocking horse says "muster up a little courage Sir and mount like a man, there's two gentlemen laughing at you!".
