The Irish Dream
An old beggar woman at a small town in Ireland, having almost exhausted the Charity of a Lady & a Gentleman, by her repeated importunities, one morning thus accosted them "Och!, my Lady success to your Ladyship and success to your honour's honour this morning, of all the mornings in the year; for sure didn't I dream last night, that her ladyship gave me a pound of Tay [tea], & that your honour gave me a pound of Bacca. "But my good woman says the gentleman, Dreams always go by the rule of contrary", "Do they so", rejoined the Old Woman, "Then it must be your honour that will give me the Tay, and her Ladyship the Bacca", her ready wit obtained for her, the Tobacco and Tea.
