This print is lettered with title 'The Hen Peck'd Husband' and publication line 'Dublin. Pub. by J. Sidebotham 24 Lower Sackville Street'. A man of small stature walks beside his taller, portly wife, their body language and grimaces they exchange show them to be bickering. He carries her umbrella, cloak, pattens [protective overshoes, worn outdoors over a normal shoe to elevate the foot above the dirt of the street] and a bundle in a green and red check patterned handkerchief. She wears large plumes on her head and holds a green fan in front of her with her right hand. Another man walking in the opposite direction, looks across at the couple and regards them in a condescending fashion - he has a younger (apparently pregnant?) wife, who walks beside him, cradling a small child in her right arm and holding a green umbrella in her left hand. In the right background is a building, where two men can be side in the upper window (which is open), in conversation and smoking clay pipes. Outside on a bench sit an apparently contented couple - the man smokes a clay pipe while the woman seated beside him is depicted smiling.
