Summary:Design proposal for fittings and alterations of a room for the new library at Monte Alverno, Sorrento Road, Dalkey, Co. Dublin by Robert Strahan and Company. A student called Robert Strahan was admitted to the Royal Dublin Society's School of Landscape and Ornament in 1834 and to the School of Drawing in Architecture in 1836, winning a prize that year; the furniture firm of Robert Strahan and Company was established in 1776, operating from premises at 10-11 Chancery Lane, Dublin. A workshop opened at 24-25 Henry Street in 1815 and at 5 Leinster Street in 1845. Their work was on display at the Great Industrial Exhibition held in Dublin in 1853. The firm moved to Abbey Street in 1870 and continued to trade until 1969.
