Summary:At top of sheet are the designs for two chairs - one a library chair, upholstered in red coloured material while a lounge chair with rolled arms upholstered in blue coloured material is present at top right of sheet. Below this, two propsed designs for tables for the library are illustrated with accompanying measurements. A student called Robert Strahan was admitted to the Royal Dublin Society's School of Landscape and Ornament in 1834 and to the School of Drawing in Architecture in 1836, winning a prize that year; the furniture firm of Robert Strahan and Company was established in 1776, operating from premises at 10-11 Chancery Lane, Dublin. A workshop opened at 24-25 Henry Street in 1815 and at 5 Leinster Street in 1845. Their work was on display at the Great Industrial Exhibition held in Dublin in 1853. The firm moved to Abbey Street in 1870 and continued to trade until 1969.
