Admission card confirming payment of fees by a medical student Mr. Johnston, attending the Coombe Lying-in Hospital, Dublin, [then located in Heytesbury Street], Session [beginning] 10 December 1880. Printed on verso of card: "The attention of Students is particularly requested to the following regulations: - 1st. - No Student will be admitted without having an Admission Card. 2nd. - He will not be admitted after 10-30 o'clock p.m. 3rd. - He will not be admitted on any night except that on which he is appointed for duty. 4th. - He must have attended Five Cases in the Wards of the Hospital before any of his Extern Cases are recognised. 5th. - He must give immediate notice at the Hospital of any Extern Case he is attending should it deviate in any way from “Natural Labour”. 6th. - The "Certificate" of 30 Cases cannot be obtained till the expiration of six months from date of entrance. 7th. - Two days' notice must be given when the Certificate is required".
