Bibliographic Details
Summary:Sheet featuring an illustrated frame in a decorative zoomorphic interlace design pattern with a space left at centre of sheet to attach the woven silk portrait of Oliver Plunkett, [beatified in 1920 and canonised in 1975], a reproduction in silk of a mezzotint in the National Gallery of Ireland (with their permission) by Padraic Breathnach. Printed on verso of sheet, another sheet is attached, entitled "Prayer for the Canonisation of Blessed Oliver Plunkett". Underneath this is printed "This Picture is made by interweaving over 2,000 separate threads of pure silk, and is woven entirely by hand on old-style Jacquard Loom in weaver's own home. Padraic Breathnach [his name is printed in Cló Gaelach], 15 Hamilton Street, Dublin". At bottom of sheet, a calendar for 1950 is attached to primary sheet by two blue ribbons, while at top of sheet is a loop, made of a white ribbon, to hang the calendar [on a wall].
