In Collection: Mary Hutton Papers, 1884-1942.
Description: Hull thanks Mrs. Hutton for her kindness in reading and commenting on her work. She discusses the difficulties of writing about Irish history without 'arousing ill feeling in Ireland and prejudice in England', mentioning, as an example from the past, Irish soldiers serving in the Spanish army in Flanders, against English interests; and how religious and political issues were always intermingled. She talks about some of these points in detail, and also about Irish manuscripts from the Franciscan College, Louvain. She ends with some personal remarks.
