Letter from Íde Ní Néill to Mary Hutton,

[1916 July].

View more information ...
In Collection: Mary Hutton Papers, 1884-1942.
Description: The letter is a covering note for the accompanying two-page typewritten appeal, to the Prime Minister and Home Secretary, that the sentence of execution on Roger Casement be commuted. Ní Néill asks if Mrs. Hutton will sign the appeal, and then forward it to Miss Bannister. The appeal pleads the case on the grounds of the (possibly) irreparable harm that would be done to Anglo-Irish relations by Casement's execution, detailing the state of Irish feeling at present, which (the document claims) is not understood in England.
