Summary: | Poster designed by Robert Ballagh, features an image of an ocean liner [ship], to which a headstone has superimposed [bearing the title and details of the play]; a red wreath lies at the foot of the 'headstone'. In the play, the characters attend a dinner party in the house of Captain Shotover - the house is built in the shape of the stern of a ship. Shaw's play 'Heartbreak House: A Fantasia in the Russian Manner on English Themes' was published in 1919 and first performed at the Garrick Theatre, New York in November 1920 and in the Royal Court, London on 18 October, 1921. |
