Notes: | The letter is written on black-bordered paper with the printed heading of '6 Hyde Park Gate, S.W.'. Ellen Russell was the wife of Charles, Baron Russell of Killowen (1832-1900), the well-known barrister and judge, who became the first Catholic Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales. Basil William Maturin was an Anglican priest, who later in life became a Catholic priest. He was a famous preacher both before and after his conversion.
