He writes about his efforts to distribute the supplies brought from France and says 'if you do not give us speedy orders and help ... twil be absolutely impossible for us to remove anything from hence ...'. Although he believes the officers are loyal to the king's cause, a lot of the men have deserted, and he adds 'I do not much wonder about it, for neither bred, meate, lodging nor drink is to be had in this place ...'. |
