Summary:Limerick discusses in detail the distribution of supplies to the army, and complains about the demeanour and assumption of authority of his own deputy, Sir Edward Scott, which is discreditable to himself and is causing confusion and inconvenience. Notes:a A note on the back, dated four days after the Battle of the Boyne, records how the letter was taken at that battle and given to the present owner (Southwell?) by the Earl of Scarboro, along with other letters in cipher, which he sent to the Earl of Nottingham.

The Earl of Limerick was appointed to the Irish privy council in May 1686 and became colonel of a regiment of dragoons. He left Ireland after the Battle of the Boyne.
