Summary:	Written one day after his previous letter (MS 50,568) Gibbon says to Lane that he re-read her letter after answering it, and realised he made a mistake in saying he did not know Leonard Dobbin. He then strongly defends Dobbin in regard to the murder of Francis Sheehy Skeffington and two others, and mentions the 'cruel cross examination ... which [Tim] Healy gave him' [presumably referring to the Commission of Inquiry into the deaths]. He references various other people, including Katherine Tynan and Winifred Letts, as well as friends who died in the war.

Notes:	The letter is written from Steep House, Tilmore Road, Petersfield, Hampshire. Gibbon was stationed in Portobello Barracks at the time of the murder of Francis Sheehy Skeffington during the 1916 Rising. Leonard Dobbin was a Lieutenant in the Barracks that night, under whose supervision Sheehy Skeffington had been placed prior to his murder on the orders of Captain Bowen-Colthurst.
