Summary: | Original pencil drawing [by an unknown hand], of Captain William Rochfort (who died on 21 December 1847), who was the second son of Gustavus Rochfort, Esq., an M.P. for Westmeath during eight successive parliaments and a captain in the British navy. He is depicted wearing uniform and bi-corne hat, riding a horse, having cleared a large ditch. Inscribed in manuscript hand at bottom of sheet, underneath image, "Capt. William Rochfort out hunting". Written in manuscript hand on verso in black in is "No. 31". |
