Summary: | Drawings on recto and verso of a headed postcard (dated 2 September 2003) by artist Thomas Ryan, PRHA of a monk standing on a rocky outcrop on Skellig Michael, one of the Skellig Islands, [islands located west of Bolus Head on the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry]; the verso is addressed to "Donal" [Dónall O Luanaigh, then Keeper of Collections in the National Library of Ireland] with the words "Dear Donal / Here's an unusual one for you. we met / the author, Fr. Redmond in Lourdes. He is a hermit; the only one / I've met and such a rarity that he had to get special permission from the / Vatican to become one. / Open a hermit shelf in the National Library and be unique. / sincerely / Thomas Ryan". |
