Undated pencil drawing by Sir John Fiennes Twisleton Crampton (1805-1886) of the St. Nicholas (Nikolskaya) Tower, on the northern side of the Kremlin, Moscow; figures can be seen in the forground adjacent to a horse and cart and included in the drawing is tallest tower of the Moscow Kremlin, the Troitskaya Tower and the Spasskaya Tower. Sir John Fiennes Twisleton Crampton was a British diplomat who served as Minister to Russia from 1858 to 1860; his last post was in Madrid (1860-1869), after which he retired to live in Bushy Park, Enniskerry, County Wicklow. In 1860 he married Victoria Balfe y Roser (1837-1871), daughter of the Irish composer Michael William Balfe (1808-1870) however their marriage was annulled.
