Notes:Five letters to John French, known as 'Tierna More', from his son Robert French, who later served as M.P. for Jamestown and a Judge of the Common Pleas. Among other things, letters discuss the purchase of three farms from Lord Dillon's trustees, which Tierna More 'was desirous to have'; the settlement of the estate; provisions for his sisters Sarah (m. to Gilbert King) and Olivia (m. to Rev. William Digby); and provision for himself in expectation of his marriage to Frances Hull, who became his wife. Concerning the match, Robert asked his father 'not to suffer me to be disappointed in a match I am very desirous of and so beneficiall to me & may be very greatly so in ffailure of issue to o[the]rs in your ffamily'. Includes an envelope from a later date marked 'Letters 1731'.
