Summary: | Four envelopes with hand-drawn pen and ink illustrations, mounted on two sheets. Featured are illustrations of two women on horseback (postmark dated 27 Feb. 1858), a women reading with a child (postmark dated April 1859), a woman writing at a desk (n.d.) and a young woman in a crinoline and with a walking stick (18-19 Oct. 1859). Attached are black and white photograph copies of the envelopes, with accompanying typescript notes by Mairead Dunlevy, author of 'A History of the Irish Post Office' (1983). |
