Notes:Legal papers of the French family, consisting largely of material related to the settlement and resettlement of the estate. In the nineteenth- and twentieth-centuries, the French family's legal affairs were managed by Arthur O'Hagan & Son Solicitors, with much of the correspondence and other material attributable to that firm. Part of the collection deals with a lawsuit following the death of Arthur, 1st Baron De Freyne, in 1856, and concerns the bequest of some plate and furniture to a servant, Mary Guntrip. The family's legal papers include only a fragment of one will; that of Dominick French (d.1670).
