Summary:	Original design by illustrator Philippe Jullian [pseudonym of Philippe Simounet, (1919-1977)] for the dust jacket for the Joanthan Cape 1969 edition of 'Eva Trout', Elizabeth Bowen's final novel that was subsequently shortlisted for the 1970 Booker Prize. (The first edition was published in 1968 by Knopf, New York). Written in pencil on verso: "P Jullian" and "£300" and in blue ink, lower right of verso the Latin alphabet capital letter "A", within a circle. In correspondence, dated 10 May 1968 [held in the William Plomer Collection at Palace Green Library, Durham University], the author Elizabeth Bowen asks William Plomer [(1903-1973), a reader and literary adviser to the London publishing firm Jonathan Cape] "Do you think for Philippe Jullian...would ever do a jacket for 'Eva Trout'? And if he would, would Cape's [the firm Jonathan Cape] be induced to pay up or would they shy off, the fee that he could, would and certainly sould expect.
