Main Creator: Downs, Jane
Contributors: Holmes, Mr., (Shoemaker)
Summary:The letter is quite lengthy and in it, Mrs Downs, who appears to be Mr. Holmes landlady in London, explains that a letter arrived for him from Dublin and that she sent her nephew after him to deliver it, got news of his ship having being wrecked, but then on further enquiry found that it was two other ships that foundered, but not his one. She gives all the information of her enquiries in great detail, and includes a note to Mr. Homes Senior, in case it should be he who receives the letter. She wants to assure him that his son's ship has not been lost, and if he has not arrived he may have been delayed by the adverse weather in the Irish Sea.
