Calendar card for the month of October issued by the Scottish Widows Life Assurance Society. Text on verso of card reads: "Scottish Widows' Fund / Life Assurance Society / Mutual Life Assurance / The Whole Profits Belong To The Policyholders / Those who contemplate effecting a Life Policy should". Recto features illustration for the month of October of a woman on horseback, behind her stands a man blowing a horn; in the background is a forest of trees. A skull of an elk [?] is featured at the top of the card, while at the bottom two putti are armed with arrow. The illustration by Walter Crane is in the Arts and Crafts style.
