| Summary: | Rough translation of the title reads: "Sketch of the taking of the Tuileries, after the sketch of the painting that is [by] Ch. Dusaulchoy" [artist Charles Dusaulchoy]. This image depicts the the yard in front of the Tuileries Palace (in the area then known as the Cours du Carrousel) on 10 August 1792 when an armed mob stormed the palace, forcing the royal family to seek refuge in the legislative assembly. In the ensuing violence over over seven hundred people were killed. In the left background of the image can be seen the Tuileries Palace which was later destroyed by fire on 23 May 1871 under the orders of Jules Bergeret, former chief military commander of the Paris Commune. This print was issued as part of a series, entitled: "La journée du 29 juillet 1830; Rue de Rohan et aux environs du Palais Royal".
