Summary:1841 city of Dublin election poster [the election took place on 10 July 1841] issued by Daniel O'Connell and the Repeal Association of Ireland, consisting of two sheets joined together - the top sheet features a large woodcut print while the bottom half consists of a sheet of letterpress print. The woodcut features a group portrait of Daniel O'Connell [at extreme right of sheet] holding a large loaf of bread along with an associate, while Conservatives John Beattie West and Edward Grogan hold aloft a large chunk from the loaf at left of woodcut - in the centre the Unionist Thompson is featured - behind him a number of gentlemen cheer, holding their hats aloft while another group of gentlemen point to the chunk of the loaf, shared by West and Grogan, clearly unhappy. Text printed at right of sheet (under the column headed 'DAN' [Daniel O'Connell]) reads: "Freemen! Look on this and then on that loaf...For my own part, I ask your votes, to Repeal the Union! Ireland's curse & degradation to bring back the absentee and have six millions annually spent at home".
