Summary: | O'Connell's letter, dated 1 August 1844 and written in the '3rd month of the Captivity', relates to his sending his friend Lyon a 'proof print of my portrait by Carrick'. Attached is Lyon's copy of portrait sent to him by O'Connell, engraved by William Holl Jr., after Thomas Heathfield Carrick. The print is in a mount (27 x 23 cm) which has been inscribed and signed 'Your faithful Servant, Daniel O'Connell'. |
