Notes: | Henry Irving was knighted in 1895 (though first offered this accord in 1883); he was the first actor to ever receive a knighthood. In 1906, the Irish author Bram Stoker published a two-volume biography about Irving called 'Personal Reminiscences of Henry Irving'; Bram Stoker was acting manager and then business manager of Henry Irving's 'Lyceum Theatre' for 27 years.
