| Summary: | Broadside advertisement poster for display on a sandwich board advertising W.J. Fitzpatrick's 1866 publication "The Sham Squire and the Informers of 1798" [concerning in the main informer Francis Higgins but also giving an account of the actions of Lieutenant Edward Lambert Hepenstall - who is depicted on this sheet. Hepenstall, an officer in Wicklow Militia, became known as 'The Walking Gallows' due to his actions in 1798. Whole length, Lieutenant Edward Lambert Hepenstall walking to left in uniform and cocked hat, carrying a man on his back, hung by a noose around his neck, in the process of strangling him. Underneath this is printed: "Here lie the bones of Hepenstall / Judge, jury, gallows, rope, and all". See a smaller illustration for the 1866 publication of W.J.
