Summary:Sir William Gleadowe-Newcomen commissioned James Gandon to design a neoclassical villa for him at Carrigglas. However, Gleadowe-Newcomen later went bankrupt, following the collapse of the Newcomen Bank, before work could start on this house/villa. However a gateway (see NLI PD AD 3221) and two courtyards of outbuildings designed by Gandon were constructed that are extant. PD AD 3186 - PD AD 3299 (8 loose leaves and 2 vols. of drawings by James Gandon), formerly held at NLI MS 22,015 and NLI MS 22,016); transferred to Department of Prints & Drawings in 2005.
