Summary: | James Gandon designed the gateway serving Carrigglas Manor, Co. Longford. The gateway was built ca. 1795 at the expense of Sir William Gleadowe-Newcomen, the owner of the Carrigglas Manor at the time of construction. Carrigglas Manor was leased to, and later bought, by the lawyer Thomas Lefroy, in the early-nineteenth century and it was he who built the present Carrigglas Manor (ca. 1837). PD AD 3186 - PD AD 3299 (8 loose leaves and 2 vols. of drawings by James Gandon), formerly held at NLI MS 22,015 and NLI MS 22,016); transferred to Department of Prints & Drawings in 2005. |
