Notes: | A typed letter, in which Yeats has made some manuscript insertions, with its accompanying envelope. It was written from Merrion Square. Lane's art collection was left to the Municipal Gallery in Dublin in an unsigned codicil to his will. His previous will had bequeathed it to London. Although successive Irish governments made representations to the British government the issue was only resolved in 1959 with a compromise. Lady Gregory was an aunt of Hugh Lane.
