Royal letters patent granted by James I, with the assent of Sir Arthur Chichester, Lord Deputy of Ireland, to Lady Mary, Baroness Delvin and her son Lord Richard Nugent, Baron Delvin, in which they obtained extensive lands and property in Ireland. Dated 20 June 1608. Full details of the properties and names of the tenants are provided. A later inscription on the outside of the document reads 'Patent to Thomas Nugent Eyre Lands Co. Westmeath'.

Three page vellum document, with red and white plaited laces. A headed border on the first page contains a painted portrait of King James and with the coats of arms of Ireland, Scotland, France and England.
