| Summary: | In this letter, written while Gonne was nursing in a French military hospital, she says she wishes she could come to Dublin, where there is so much work to do relieving the poverty of the children; she says 'I have not the courage to leave Seaghan [her son] alone in a war country, for how do I know I could get back to him when I wanted? & Major MacBride refuses to give the necessary undertaking that he would not interfere with him if I sent him to an Irish school'. |
