Summary:Page 109 from French journal 'L'Univers Illustré', 1880 featuring three illustrations showing the "poverty in Ireland". Illustration "1. Chercheuse d'algues sur la cote de Killery" = "1. Searching for seaweed on the coast of Killery" - an illustration of a woman bending over rocks with a bucket in her left hand, picking seaweed with her right hand. Illustration "2. En attendant un acheteur" = "Waiting for a buyer" - depicts a young man with a pig; the pig's right hind leg is tied to a string which is attached to the man's wrist. Illustration "3. Transport de tourbe, près de Kilmore" = "Transport of turf near Kilmore" depcits two women with turf in baskets on their backs, climbing up the side of a mountain. Realted article by R. Bryon printed on verso, p. 110. Note this sheet is very brittle and distressed.
