Summary: | A letter from Alan Clodd to F.W. Roberts of the Humanities Research Center, University of Texas (now called the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center) discloses that in a recent conversation with Beckett, the writer was puzzled by the claim that the library in Texas has the 'original French manuscript' of En Attendant Godot. Beckett said there was only one manuscript, still in his possession. The letter is dated 7th August 1972. Mr. Roberts responds on 10th August saying that the one they have is a fair copy, possibly made by Beckett for Jake Schwartz. He encloses xerox copies of the first three pages on the manuscript in their possession. |
