Summary:Newsclipping of part of p. 608 which featured in French journal 'Le Monde Illustré' on 22 September 1882 relating to the strike by the Dublin Metropolitan Police over their salary. There are five separate illustrations present on the sheet - illustration No. 1, [upper left of sheet] shows the uniform worn by the Dublin Metropolitan Police in Ireland. Illustration No. 2 [upper right of sheet] depicts Earl Spencer, the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, addressing the police constables from the steps of his residence. Illustration No. 3 [lower left of sheet] shows soldiers charging with bayonets in Sackville Street [now O'Connell Street], Dublin. Illustration No. 4 shows soldiers taking possession of the police station at Store Street, Dublin while illustration No. 5 shows speakers being interrupted by soldiers who are wielding bayonets.
