Contains a dedication, dated 1st June 1973, to Erskine Childers, on the occasion of his election as President of Ireland, signed M.H. In the same hand is a note, over three pages of the front flyleaves of the book, stating that the volume is from the '... famous library of the great Lord Emly I (William Monsell of Tervoe, Mungret, Co. Limerick) ...' and giving some biographical information about Lord Emly, mentioning also that many bundles of letters were found in the books of the Tervoe library, which were happily preserved rather than destroyed as often happens. The note also makes mention of a copybook which had belonged to Lady Gregory, containing the manuscript of 'Cuchulain of Muirthemne'. (See manuscript at MS 50,202 for an item possibly related).
