Illustration of the event known as the Boyde Disaster which took place in the East Pier, Kingstown [Dún Laoghaire] in February 1861 when Captain John McNeil Boyd and five crewmen of the Ajax - John Cully, Thoams Murphy, Alexander Forsyth, James Johnson and John Russell - drowned. Accompanied by a related clipping under the title "The Loss of Capt. Boyd of the Ajax". The men are commemorated at the Boyd Monument on Dún Laoghaire Pier.
