Although no year is written on the letter, Caroline's husband Sir Francis John Pakenham was ambassador to Sweden between 1896 and 1902. Sir Francis John Pakenham was the fourth son of the second Earl of Longford, and worked in the diplomatic service. Between 1896 and 1902 he served as ambassador in Sweden.
