Summary: | Papers of George Wolfe of Forenaughts, Co. Kildare, relating to his political career as a nationalist and member of the Irish Parliamentary Party and subsequently as a Cumann na nGaedheal TD for Kildare, his appointment and work as Curragh Ranger and involvement with the Irish Volunteers in Co. Kildare. Also included are personal letters from members of his family, notably his brother Lieut. Richard Wolfe (1855-1885), his daughter Maud (d. 1980) and personal correspondence relating to the extended Wolfe family, their association with Canada and their antecedents. |

Notes: | George Wolfe was the only surviving son of Theobald George Samuel Wolfe of Forenaughts and Bishopsland, Co. Kildare, and Elizabeth Henrietta Wolfe (née Ball) of Tipperkevin, Co. Kildare. After a career in the British Army and period living at Acomb Priory, Yorkshire, he returned to live in Co. Kildare, where he served as county High Sheriff (1900), Curragh Ranger and a Cumann na nGaedheal T.D. for Co. Kildare from 1923 to 1932. Physical description: 24 folders. more |
