Summary: | The meeting discussed and voted on the acceptance or rejection of the Treaty. Miss MacSwiney proposed the motion (for rejection) with a speech of several pages; it was seconded by Miss Burn (Killarney). Other delegates spoke briefly. Mrs Wyse-Power (Jenny Wyse Power 1858–1941) proposed an amendment, saying that the decision was unfair and premature. Her amendment is reproduced but not her speech, the full report of which from the Irish Independent is at MS 49,851/11. Her amendment was defeated 419 votes to 63. |
