The Tennessee Campaign of 1864 /
edited by Steven E. Woodworth and Charles D. Grear.
Civil War campaigns in the heartland.
Includes bibliographical references and index.
Thirteen essays, many to do with the disastrous losses for the Confederates at Franklin and Nashville. One essay of special interest is The long lost diary of Major General Patrick R. Cleburne, edited by William Lee White. White had stumbled across it in The Walker County Messenger, of LaFayette, Georgia. The newspaper had serialized it in July and August of 1894, only identifying it as the "Diary of one of Hood's Generals." It had been found by a local boy, who went through the Confederate camp before arrival of Union troops.
